heavy at the waterline

hostile air thin as

patience

mountains at our backs

called family

called commitment

water at our feet

white and brooding

the space between us

rent by a slip of blue

night spreading at the horizon

pomegranate day giving way

giving way

to the ocean rising

writhing

frothing at the mouth

because you would not

love me

could not see me

had not known me since

you knew me

the day i was born

a still cry born of

seafoam

levitating

riled up

screaming
